SXSW 2011 Trend Predictions:
- Designing for Digital Natives: All of a sudden, the people we design for have huge expectations for the technologies they allow into their lives. We predict a ton of amazing trends aimed at kids, teens and millennials.
- Typography makes a comeback: This one keeps giving and giving, every year amazing innovations are made in the growing world of digital typography. This year we expect more talk in innovation as well as a call to action to get back to paying homage to real typographic quality and design.
- Future of the Agency Model: Are we winning? Are we dying? Are we dinosaurs or Unicorns? We have our own opinions, bet you do as well. Expect the words “Race to the Middle” to hurt your brain by the end of the week. Have a cocktail, it helps.
- Death to Single-Screen Design: We all saw it coming, and here we are. It no longer makes sense to build basically anything that can’t be used on a mobile device. Predict lots of collective talking off the ledge — but we will make it through, promise.
- Relevance #FTW: We have thought for years that “What Matters” is what wins, and it seems that relevance and usefulness are truly rising to the top of our collective minds.
- Games!: ‘nuff said. Games are everywhere and becoming part of everything.
- Klout = CV: While we quickly develop new ways to document our existence and contributions to the world — the world is responding. Employers now expect professionals to show your work, build their own brand and manage relationships across jobs.
Hawtness. I am excited, you?
